Fae Candle Co. create scents based on literature and mythology. A self-taught candle maker, founder Devon discovered a natural gift for composing scents inspired by the fictional places she had read and immersed herself in.
We invited Devon to create a scent in response to Sappho by Auguste C. Mengin. Researching the scents used in perfume and during religious worship, she mixed the sample oils in front of a copy of the painting. Devon wanted this fragrance to be predominantly feminine, whilst staying fresh to reference the sea that is part of Sappho’s story.
