"I was inspired by a pregnant friend, as her body took on new lines and shapes. I wanted to use those curves and lines for this shape. I love her curves!"
Ane says:
"I have always loved stone, collecting stones as a child. Later in life, in 2005, I started carving and found great enjoyment in the process of shaping stone. I carve directly into blocks of stone, using simple forms and clean lines, usually with a smooth finish.
I often take inspiration from the natural world, generally carving living beings in a slightly abstract style. My aim is to capture the essence of the creature I am carving.
I work in a variety of stone, but am particularly fond of ancaster limestone, which has shells, layers and other interesting surprises as you smooth it."
