Nancy Collantine is an artist and painter based at Northern Atelier in Goyt Mill, Marple, Stockport. Her painting slides between figuration and abstraction and it is her use of layering and the intuitive push and pull process of painting, that Nan tries to find her own way to visually describe something that was previously unthought, or unknown.
These are abstract paintings made early in 2020 in response to Manchester’s famous water palace, Victoria Baths following her residency there in 2019. In these works, Nancy is responding to space, the feeling of absence and the memories associated with Victoria Baths through the context of her own memories and love of swimming pools and holidays.
